Task requirements

a.    Instruct students iaw the current course syllabus, safely and to the highest standards in order to achieve the 1FTS mission (To safely deliver world-class air operations and helicopter crew training for Defence).   

b.    Maintain flying currency iaw appropriate documentation. 

c.    Maintain a suitable level of knowledge and skill covering all areas associated with your primary task to enable you to pass your annual assessment to a minimum of B1 QHI standard.

d.    Ensure timely completion of TMIS sortie reports for allocated students.  This should be done accurately and succinctly, ensuring that all reports are seen and signed by the relevant student at the earliest opportunity.

e.    Ensure that Flt Comds are informed of any deviation from the course standard; any areas of concern over performance; any student illness that hinders continued flying training; any absence, or any other factors that may interfere with sqn output.

f.    Complete end of course reports on time and to the highest standard.

g.    Monitor the morale, personal, and physical welfare of your student(s), raising any areas of concern through the chain of command.

h.    Maintain the currency of all issued documents and flying publications and ensure that allocated students have done likewise.

i.    Display, encourage and actively promote the highest standards of flight safety.

j.    Monitor the appropriateness and effectiveness of aircraft and course reference documents, raising amendments as necessary through the sqn chain of command and Ascent training management as appropriate.

k.    Carry out secondary duties as detailed by CO 9AAC.

l.    Carry out stn, unit and sub-unit duties as detailed on stn, 1 FTS and sqn routine orders.

Essential competencies

Be, or have been a QHI (B1)
UK National
In current RW flying practice.
DTTT or equivalent experience.

Desirable competencies

Be a QHI (A2) in current instructional flying practice.
Flight Authoriser's Cse (In date).
