Job Description
Subject to formal establishment, Joint Boarding process and sS Policies, a vacancy will arise for a OF3 to serve as SO2 CWIX Conference 26 at the Integrated Warfare Centre, Northwood HQ on ADC/VeRR/PTVR/VTOD Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Dec 25.
Up to 90 RSD’s total are available for the right candidate to conduct the role.
Unit Function:
The Integrated Warfare Centre is responsible for enabling the Joint Force to operate, integrate, innovate, develop, and adapt to become the Integrated Force of tomorrow in response to the changing character of conflict. It achieves this through the analysis of lessons, insights and observations from operations and training and the experimentation, exercising and exploitation of concepts and technologies across all domains.
Position Role:
The annual Coalition Warrior Interoperability eXploration, eXperimentation, eXamination eXercise (CWIX) is a major annual NATO Digital Interoperability Ex. The incumbent will lead the planning and execution of a UK-hosted NATO planning conference for CWIX 26, which will be held in Bristol 27-30 Jan 26. The individual will engage with NATO stakeholders from both public and private sectors to deliver this significant planning event, which will be attended by c1000 representatives from NATO Allies & Partner nations. The incumbent will receive exposure to senior decision makers across Defence while undertaking this work, offering significant opportunities for broadening and professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to understand the requirements for the conference.
- Plan and execute the conference, ensuring all logistics are in place, including catering, audiovisual equipment, and accommodation.
- Coordinate online registration processes, including managing registrations, attendee communication, and payment processing.
- Manage and recruit a small conference support team if required.
- Undertake and review lessons learned from the event to support the organisation of future events.
- Develop and manage the budget for the conference, ensuring cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising the quality of the event.
Essential Skills
Must be an OF3 of any specialisation. OF2 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR maybe considered subject to sS policy.
Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Domestic Considerations:
The incumbent will operate primarily out of one of three locations but may occasionally be required to work out of other MOD locations. Occasional travel to Bristol will also be required, including attendance at the Conference itself. There is scope for regular remote and flexible working when not required at a physical location.

This is an exciting opportunity for an OF3 to become the lead for the organisation and delivery of a key planning conference on behalf of NATO. The output of the event helps to support UKs Defence (Level 3) and Integrated (Level 2) level Force Development through the coherence of experimentation opportunities. This helps to support the delivery of the IWC’s broader portfolio of Defence Experimentation and Wargaming across the UK MoD.
Other Information:
Way of Working: The IWC is a Regular organisation, which routinely works Mon to Fri, (0800 to 1700) it is essential that the incumbent is able to be flexible throughout the working week. The exact working days will be planned with the 1RO / Line Manager. Hybrid / Working from Home is feasible for delivery of elements of this role. The incumbent must be able to travel and work at the Northwood HQ site when required.
T&S: The successful applicant is authorised to claim travel and subsistence (T&S) and to have access to service accommodation, for assigned exercises and associated meetings when remote conferencing is not practicable; dependent on agreed committed TaCoS.
Employment on Part Time TaCoS (PTVR/ADC/VeRR/ARRG/VToD): The successful applicant will be subject to the TaCoS they will be employed on / authorised.

Transition between TaCoS: Personnel taking this appointment from other TaCoS should consider the impact on any accrued entitlements, such as leave, resettlement etc and should seek specialist guidance where required as certain entitlements are TaCoS specific and may not be retained or transferred on transition between TaCoS.
Annual Salary and Leave: Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published in sS polcies . Leave entitlement, if applicable, is detailed in JSP 760.
