As one of 10 x SO1s working direct to ACOS Pers Ops in RC, (alongside Army Welfare Service, Army Education Services, Housing, etc), the SO1 ARC is the lead staff officer for the Recovery Capability. Due to available bandwidth of the ACOS, SO1 ARC is empowered to engage with Defence level, Single and tri-Service, and 3rd Sector stakeholders to influence policy and decisions affecting the capability, as well as future plans.
SO1 ARC as FTRS provides continuity and expertise, guiding the Regular UKTAP Commanding Officers of PRUs. Their credibility comes from their knowledge and experience.
This role is suitable for someone either on promotion or in substantive rank. Personal qualities and KSE are more important than rank. It requires leadership balanced with empathy and vision. Staff skills are essential. Previous recovery experience in either policy or delivery is highly desirable, as is training development experience, (specifically the DSAT process and requirements), and assurance. The role also requires an understanding of the medical services (both clinical pathways for routine engagement and operational planning for wargaming) to support the continued engagement with DMS.
Hybrid working may be possible if agreed with Post POC. A minimum of one or two days in the office per week is deemed essential to building relationships and managing/developing the HQ workforce. 100% remote working is not supportable.
