Task requirements

A vacancy has arisen for an Ex People Specialist (formerly TG17) OR4 to serve as JNCO Stn Force Generation Co-Ord at RAF Brize Norton an initial proposed start date of ​25 July 2025​ (or earlier/later, subject to candidates’ status) 

Responsibility 

Support the WO BSW in managing FGen and unestablished commitments ensuring fair delegation of taskings across Stn. 

Liaise with 2Gp to clarify taskings, disseminate relevant information to Stn, setting deadlines and providing advice for Stn personnel 

Review and staff impact statements on behalf of the Stn Cdr ensuring that they meet the standard for submission to 2Gp HQ. 

Oversee the BZN Stn PPA Tracker ensuring that personnel maintain their ability to deploy.  

Trawl for personnel and maintain job specs and apportionment. 

Co-ordinate and process Unit Assistance Requests, DWR Exemption Requests and Cat 1 Bid Requests from across Stn. 

This is a non-discretionary role, providing the linchpin between the Stn and Air Command, for the management of Govt, Defence and Air directed Force Generation Tasking. Constant monitoring and reaction to the A1 Business Support Mailbox is vital to ensuring immediate responses to time critical task demand signals. Identification of, and delivery to, appropriate demand recipients across the Station is essential to supporting Line Managers (LM’s) in the prioritisation and apportionment of available Work Force. Daily engagement with Air Command clarifying task requirements and resolving issues arising. Review and staff impact statements, on behalf of the Stn Cdr, ensuring they meet the standard for submission. Arbitrate Least Worst Nominations for presentation to Air. Prompt distribution of Activation Orders, alerting LM’s to impending Work Force challenges whilst allowing nominated SP the maximum opportunity to complete all PDT and personal welfare preparations. Co-ordinate and process Unit Assistance Requests, DWR Exemption Requests and Cat 1 Bid Requests from across Stn. Maintain the Stn FGen Tracking Tool. Provide accurate and expeditious detail to station management, regarding the extent and impact of diversionary tasking on non-deployed Station Work Force. 

Essential competencies

Experience in using IT, including Excel and Word. 

Desirable competencies

Knowledge of JPA, ECR's and SLIM. 

Selection Process

Selection Process.  In the event of more than one applicant for a role (including any regular serving personnel) An Assignment Selection Board will be carried out by Career Management who will select the most suitable candidate. This selection process will be based principally on an applicant’s Employment and Service History but may also include past or current ARs.

The post is open to the following candidates who have held the substantive rank of Cpl or Equivalent:  

 

  • Re-joiner with Previous Service Regular and/or Reserve service in the RAF, Royal Navy, British Army or Commonwealth armed force 
  • Re-joiner with Service in the Reserve Forces. Individuals serving or with previous service on FTRS or ADC terms in the UK Armed Forces 
  • Transferee – A serving member of the Royal Navy or British Army or Reserve Forces who can be released for transfer to the RAF 
  • Re-joiner with Previous Service in other Armed Forces of the Crown. Individuals who have previously served full-time in any of the other Armed Forces of the Crown, including those of Commonwealth countries. 

 

 

Confirmation of appointment will depend on successful completion of a RAF Medical Board.  Personnel who do not meet the Age/Permanent Joint Medical Employment Standard (PJMES) may apply for the appointment but will only be considered subject to a waiver process on a case-by-case basis. Successful candidates will be required to complete a Transferee and Re-Joiner Course held at RAF Halton. The length of the course will be dependent on the candidate's status but will be no longer than 2 weeks.  

 

 

For Profession and specialisation posts an engagement of Absorbed or Fixed will be offered.  

 

  • Absorbed Engagement   Individuals join their Specialisation and are eligible for promotion in line with the rank and seniority they are offered. A period of service up to the maximum of 12 years can be awarded depending on rank and previous Service.  

 

  • For Fixed engagements a period of up to 5 years may be offered. Rejoiners on a fixed engagement type are not normally eligible for promotion. 

 

 

Admin Discharge.  Ex-service candidates who have been administratively discharged through the KR1027 process will have their applications rejected as they are not eligible to join the RAF Regulars in accordance with AP 3391. 

 

Mandatory End of Service (MEOS) Candidates.  Noting that the MEOS for regular personnel is age 60, consideration of candidates who cannot provide the minimum of 36 months service prior to reaching MEOS is only by exception and with approval from WR. Therefore, it is expected that the candidate would re-enter service before their 57th birthday.

Flexible Service. Flexible Service may be considered in line with the policy detailed in JSP750 Chapter 2 once entered Service.   

  

Annual Salary and Leave.  Pay will be in accordance with the pay scales published for the regular air force and will be dependent on the level of seniority and increment awarded in the offer of service.  Leave entitlement is detailed in JSP 760.
