British Agricultural & Garden Machinery Association (BAGMA)

The British Agricultural and Garden Machinery Association (BAGMA) is a UK trade association representing independent dealers in agricultural, garden, and ground care machinery. Established in 1917, BAGMA has a long-standing history of supporting its members by advocating for better terms and conditions from suppliers and manufacturers, and by providing industry-specific training and resources. The association works closely with government departments and other stakeholders to influence legislation and promote the interests of its members.

In July 2021, BAGMA transitioned from being part of the British Independent Retailers Association (BIRA) to becoming a division of the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA). This move aimed to align BAGMA more closely with the agricultural engineering sector, enhancing its ability to support members' business needs through industry-specific initiatives and collaborations.

BAGMA offers a range of services to its members, including training programs accredited by Lantra Awards, City and Guilds, and the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). These programs are designed to meet the specific needs of the land-based engineering sector, ensuring that members have access to relevant and up-to-date training opportunities.

Demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility, BAGMA signed the Armed Forces Covenant in February 2025, alongside the AEA and the Institution of Agricultural Engineers (IAgrE). By signing the covenant, BAGMA pledged to support the Armed Forces community, recognising the valuable contributions of service personnel, veterans, and their families. This commitment includes promoting fair treatment and providing opportunities for those transitioning from military to civilian life.
