Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Sergeant (Air Tech W) to serve as SNCO Explosives Safety Licensing at RAF Wittering on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 October 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status).

Reporting to SO2 Explosives Safety (ES) via the Chain of Command, the incumbent will work as part of the HQ Air Licensing Team, responsible for the review and staffing of Explosives License applications, directional weapons and safeguarding maps to HQ Air to Inspector of Explosives (RAF) for authorisation and the provision of Subject Matter Expert (SME) licensing advice and guidance to Units. Specific responsibilities include: 

  1. Responsible for the review, validation and staffing on Unit Explosives License applications (MOD Form 1658 and 1659) to Inspector of Explosives (RAF) for approval.
