Task requirements

ROLE

The MTO is the senior officer in charge of the Bn Motor Transport and is responsible for the MT Platoon and all matters relating to Unit Defence Transport management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Command and lead the MT Platoon over the G1-9 functions.
  2. Ensuring transport services requirements are provided for the unit in accordance with Defence Movement and Transport Regs.
  3. Conform to the guidelines of MT Standing Orders and JSP 800 and where necessary update and amend unit policies with unit staff.
  4. Responsible for the monitoring, reporting and facilitating the provision of transport policy and procedures within the unit.
  5. Manage the vehicle fleet in accordance with MT regulations and procedures including ADR and carriage of Dangerous goods.
  6. Carry out management checks as directed in accordance with regulations, ensuring the unit is prepared for inspection.
  7. Manage subordinate personnel, ensuring training is undertaken and up to date.

Essential competencies

Must be Security cleared and have a good understanding of current applications.

In addition, hold as a minimum a UK Cat B Driving Licence.

Desirable competencies

Familiarity with the Army Reserves and the lived experience of Reservists is highly desirable. Any previous Motor Transport experience will be key, if already DTM or DTO SNCO qualified will be a massive advantage.

Additional information

3 PWRR is a demanding Reserve Light Role unit and this is a senior rank and important role within the Coy. Applicants should consider whether they can be sufficiently committed to be able to attend training and support outputs before applying.

Must be within a manageable commute to Canterbury, Kent and able to travel on duty, as required, for residential courses and exercises, including on overseas OTX. In addition, show positive commitment to the Reserves and complete the minimum RSD requirements of 27 days. Training nights are Wednesdays 1930-2130.
