Task requirements
The Eng Ops Offr forms part of the 102 Bn REME Command team and is directly responsible for the Engineering Operations Department in conjunction with the UKTAP EngOps Officer.
2. The Eng Ops Offr is the senior engineer in the Bn and must always demonstrate the core values of the REME.
3. The Bn Engr Ops Offr is to stay current with all engineering policies and ensure these are promulgated as necessary throughout the Bn. They will:
· Ensure the CO is directly informed with all relevant Engineering policy updates.
· Engage with external agencies regarding individual trade training requirement, such as DSEME, RHQ REME
and LWC.
· Ensure that processes are in place to monitor all correspondence that is engineering orientated entering the
Bn.
4. Where Potential Artificers are interviewed by the Coy OCs that are non EngO qualified, The Bn Eng Ops Offr is to be available to assist as required.
5. Advise the CO on potential G4 ES Issues and Risks and ensure workforce levels across the Bn are of the correct trade groups to carry out all tasks.
6. Ensure that the highest standards of engineering principles are applied to all work carried out by Sub-unit personnel.
7. Maintain situational awareness of all repairs undertaken by the Bn internally and externally and the workload in all departments. Brief the Sub-unit OCs on any matter which may affect the operational capability of the Battalion.
8. Ensure that all equipment are inspected as requested by the Bn and that the highest standard of inspection is applied, including the maintenance of reports and circulation sheets.
9. Carry out any additional tasks as delegated by the CO.
Essential competencies
- EngO (or ability to complete within 12 months of assuming appointment)
- Detailed knowledge of Land Engineering assurance practices and processes
- Understanding of deployed CSS in a LBSG context
- High caliber Engineering Manager
Desirable competencies
- Previous Ops Eng/BTO experience
- Incorporated Engineer
- Experience of Land Systems Engineering in a Light Role context
