Task requirements
ROLE
Support the Coy and Battalion on operations and exercises for the provision of reliable communications, working and operating in Coy HQ in the field delivering 360 communications across the area of responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare unit CIS equipment.
- Operate, maintain and secure in-service CIS equipment.
- Use information and Communication Technology (ICT) Systems both in barracks and tactically on exercise or operations.
- Provides support for less experienced operators and radio users.
- Drive unit vehicles and establish Command Posts acting as the sole point of contact for communications across the company.
- Build train and manage a coy signals detachment ensuring talent is nurtured and developed to support the wider CIS function in the unit.
- Assist the CIS SPSI with delivery and instruction of BRU and IPRO cadres.
Essential competencies
Must be a substantive Cpl and ideally be infantry qualified having completed RSDC, RS, IPRO and BRU. If looking to transfer to the Infantry must be aware that you have 2 years to gainfully qualify in the trade to current substantive rank. Any range qualifications would help the Coy and unit.
Must lead by example and uphold the Army Values and Standards, displaying the leadership qualities expected of a Cpl in the the British Army.
Desirable competencies
Familiarity with the Army Reserves and the lived experience of Reservists is highly desirable.
Hold a Cat B+E full UK Driving Licence.
Bowman BCiP 5.6 competent.
Selection Process
The position will be boarded using the Core Operating Model soon after closing date.

Additional information
Domestic Considerations: Must be within a manageable commute to Rochester, Kent and able to travel on duty, as required, for residential courses and exercises, including on overseas OTX. In addition, show positive commitment to the Reserves and complete the minimum RSD requirements of 27 days. Training nights are Wednesdays 1930-2130.
Must display good oral and written communication with the ability to inform and convince others.
Show clear understanding of professional environment and is able to carry out the full range of tasks effectively with little supervision.
