Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Polar Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of a prestigious client in the Public Sector for a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join the MIS team.

Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager, the Senior Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for producing high quality data reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders using appropriate BI toolsets. The successful candidate will also support the Business Intelligence Manager in various tasks including the administration/development of core databases/data warehouses, ad-hoc data related requests and queries, and the mentoring of an Apprentice BI Developer.

Senior Business Intelligence Developer - Responsibilities

        • Utilise relational databases to produce high quality reports
        • Import, interrogate and extract data from systems, software, and databases, designing and developing data queries.
        • Support the Business Intelligence Manager to develop and maintain core databases, tables, views, stored procedures, optimise reporting datasets and carry out appropriate data warehouse administration/development.
        • Liaise with stakeholders to gather BI requirements and define BI solutions
        • Take ownership of BI projects, design, update and publish Power BI Dashboards and Microsoft Reporting Services Reports
        • Develop/maintain procedures and documentation for MIS reports, systems, and projects
        • Work with the MIS team to automate manual processes
        • Support quality improvement and business monitoring systems and processes.
        • Mentor the Apprentice Business Intelligence Developer
        • Keep up to date with industry best practice for system & database development and administration.

Senior Business Intelligence Developer - Skills & Experience

        • Good level of academic education
        • Extensive experience producing quality data reporting & dashboards for senior stakeholders
        • Experience querying data from relational databases/data warehouses, and optimisation data structures for BI outputs.
        • Experience of SQL Server Management Studio
        • Good knowledge of SQL Server BI stack
        • Experience with SSRS, developing ETL packages using SSIS, and Visual Studio.
        • Ability to write SQL code (including functions, stored procedures and other T-SQL scripts)
        • Good knowledge of MS Office including strong Excel
        • Excellent written & verbal communication skills and customer service ethos
        • Experience mentoring junior colleagues
        • Good team player, flexible nature, and keen to undertaking training & development opportunities
