Additional information

131 Cdo Sqn is the Army Reserve sub-unit of 24 Cdo RE. The unit is hybrid, with 3 regular and 1 reserve sub-unit.

The postholder will operate at reach from RHQ and with different parameters to the other sub-unit commanders in the unit.

Squadron Headquarters, HQ Troop and 300 Troop are based together in London, 301 Troop is in Birmingham and 302 Troop is in Bath.

Further information is provided in the terms of reference.

Domestic considerations:
This is a fully deployable, very high readiness component role within the UK Commando Force. Applicants must be able to undertake a 1-year FTRS (FC) contract and be capable of being deployed within unit readiness notice and of maintaining UKCF deployment standards. Commanding the sqn from its London headquarters, frequent visits will be required to RHQ in Chivenor, to the detached troop locations in Bath and Birmingham, and to unit training in UK or abroad. As this is a reserve sub-unit, the applicant should expect to deploy on 12-18 weekends per year, plus 2-week annual deployment exercises. Readiness will also be required to establish a LNO node within PJHQ in contingency.
