Job Description

UNIVERSITY ROYAL NAVAL UNIT COXSWAIN

Primary Purpose.

To act as the Coxswain (Coxn) of a University Royal Naval Unit (URNU), responsible to the Officer in Charge (OiC) for the leadership, management andadministration of all unit personnel, Cadets and activities in pursuance of the URNU mission statement:

 “Developing and engaging young people through maritime experience, adventure and Royal Navy ethos.”

 

Secondary Purposes

 

The secondary purposes of the URNU Coxn are to:

 

  • Support the work of the OiC in raising and maintaining public awareness of the Royal Navy.
  • Assist in strengthening links between the URNU and the Maritime Reserves.
  • Maintain links between the URNU and other University Service Units, and between the URNU and the academic community.
  • Raise awareness of career opportunities in the regular and reserve Service amongst OCs and unit Training Officers.

 

Superiors 

 

The Coxn is accountable to the unit OiC, who will act as 1RO for all aspects of these terms of reference.…
