Job Description

Position Role: Squadron Second in Command (2IC) – A Squadron. A Sqn Second in Command is to ensure the smooth running of the Squadron within the guidance and policies laid down by the Squadron Leader. In addition, they must be prepared to take over command of the Squadron at any stage in the absence of the Squadron Leader. They must also act as the point of contact for the Troop Leaders and assist the Squadron Leader in the mentoring and coaching of the young officers.

Duties: 

  1. Responsibilities: Assist the Squadron Leader and SSM in all manning matters and provide input and guidance at promotion boards.
  2. Provide MS support to Troop Leaders during MS periods. This involves providing MS guidance and coaching in the art of SJAR writing. Become the initial point of contact and proof-reader for all MS writing for Troop Leaders. This will ensure that all SJARs sent to the Squadron Leader will be of the correct standard and will limit time spent by the Squadron Leader red…
