Job Description

  1. Act as a Maritime Investigator, conforming to the principles and guidance detailed in DAIB SOPs and Standing Orders.
  2. Provide advice, mentoring and support to SI Presidents and Panels throughout the lifetime of a Service Inquiry.  Provide a conduit to other subject matter experts and Industry. 
  3. Achieve a Post Graduate Certificate in Accident Investigation from Cranfield University.
  4. Advise SI Panels on the logical development and production of inquiry reports through to their conclusion and release.
  5. Assist investigation officers of the DfT MAIB conducting investigations into occurrences as directed by SO1 Maritime or Hd of Branch.
  6. Assist investigations and investigative officers of other nations as directed by SO1 Air or Hd of Branch.
  7. Identify emergent issues to SI Panels to enable the initiation of early remedial action against shortcomings brought to light during investigations, whether or not they appear to bear directly on the main cause of the accident.
