Job Description

UNIVERSITY ROYAL NAVAL UNIT EAST OF SCOTLAND

Primary Purpose.

To act as the Coxswain (Cox’n) of University Royal Naval Unit (URNU) East of Scotland, responsible to the Officer in Charge (OiC) for the leadership, management and administration of all unit personnel, Cadets and activities in pursuance of the URNU mission:

 

Developing and engaging young people through maritime experience, adventure and Royal Navy ethos

 

Secondary Purposes

 

The secondary purposes of the East of Scotland URNU Cox’n are to:

 

  • Support the work of the OiC in raising and maintaining public awareness of the Royal Navy.
  • Assist in strengthening links between the URNU and the Maritime Reserves.
  • Maintain links between the URNU and other University Service Units, and between the URNU and the academic community.
  • Raise awareness of career opportunities in the regular and reserve Service amongst Cadets and unit Training Officers.
